Comprehensive review: There's lots of different sections to this park: multiple trails in the western section, modern camping in the eastern section, and a pool and boat launches and boat rentals in the middle section, plus a separate boat launch off Carverton Road. The first building is the park office. Check here to register for the campground. There’s a potable water pump in front of the office. The Francis Slocum State Park 100 site campground has three named sections. The Stoney Pointe section has the most amenities including some electric hook-up sites, bathrooms and showers, a playground, an amphitheater, a campground trail, a potable water pump and a sanitary dump station. There's also a campground boat launch at the end of this section and a bridge over the park dam. Hemlock Hill is the name of the middle campground section. This section is also for trailer vehicles but with only a bathroom and showers as its amenities. The Rocky Knoll section is for tent campers and includes more remote walk-in tent sites. The organized group tenting section is in a nice location at the northern end of the campground area and can accommodate up to 40 people. There are three parallel service roads through the main area. The road furthest west has scattered picnic tables and access to the Deer Trail and a butterfly garden. The middle road has two large picnic pavilions, a bathroom and a volleyball court. The ADA accessible swimming pool and refreshment stand are at the end of the middle road. There is a playground, ballfield and picnic tables outside the pool area. Beyond the pool on the west shore is a boat rental, a boat mooring area, a nature center, and access to the historic Francis Slocum trail. On the east shore there is a picnic pavilion, scattered picnic tables, bathrooms, access to the Lake Shore Trail, a boat mooring area, an ADA accessible fishing pier and a boat launch. On the outskirts of the park is a 24-hour boat launch off Carverton Road and three pull off areas for the mountain biking multi-use trails in the western third of the park. There's rifle and bow hunting areas in season and ice skating, ice fishing, sledding and cross-country skiing in winter. Watch the you tube video at: thePAparksman for more details.

It's a beautiful state park just old and a little run down but kept looking nice. Bathrooms are cleaner than most parks. They could go around and blow the leaves off the roads and sites that are booked.

Beautiful place. I have been here twice, the first time for a hike and the last time for a mushroom program a club ran. The lake is beautiful! I plan on coming back with my kayaks to spend more time on it. I want to explore more of the lake in my kayak. There are also some trails I have not had a chance to see. The park is well kept with clean restrooms and plenty of parking. It's great to have benches around the lake to just relax and enjoy the view!

Wonderful place for amateur hikers, taking a scenic walk, or just sitting by the water. Picnic tables and grills are available for having a cookout. Get in touch with nature here!

Beautiful serene place. Our first camping experience there. There is a beautiful lake. Different hiking trails. Great programs. Swimming pool for a tiny fee per camper. Very friendly staff. 2 playgrounds. Very clean restrooms. We love simple and natural.
