This lake is awesome!! Its easy to fish and I actually caught 2 catfish. I can wait for spring to see how many bass I can catch!
Great place to camp and just get away from all the daily b.s. highly recommended!!!!
Park is very well maintained. The grass had been recently cut, so bugs were minimal and it looked great. I tent camped and was right next to the water with a great view. It was cool being up close to so many turkey vultures roosting. Camp hostess was friendly, organized, and knowledgeable. Plan to go back when it cools off.
The camp ground was nice. The sites were kind of unlevel so bring lots of blocks for your camper. There's no shower house that we saw, fortunately we have one in our camper. The park areas were well kept. The bass fishing was tough, Not a lot of drop offs or cover. Very beautiful lake/area though.
Tent camping here is beautiful. Nicely maintained area, wooded and spread out with many sites having access to the lake shore. This is a fishing only lake with a 10HP motor limit on boats so it is usually very calm and peaceful. If you are looking for not calm and peaceful head to Rend Lake or Carlyle Lake. However, if you value a peaceful break from the world and being surrounded by lush woods and a gorgeous lake I highly recommend Sam Dale Lake.
