We used to visit or camp here yearly during powwow season. Sad to discover that it is now permanently closed. If you wish to visit the site where George Guess worked out the Cherokee "alphabet" visit Ft. Payne Alabama's Depot Museum and the park across the street . That is the true site where Guess worked up his sylabary.
This wonderful cave will be closing permanently on Labor day 2013! You need to see this if you like caves.
My family visited this place and it is so amazing! Such a wonder to see. Breath-taking. Well kept. I suggest you visit!
Well maintained surroundings, an authentic 1800s cabin, camping and one of the prettiest cavern tours in the South. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly with a quaint gift shop. Sequoyah Caverns and Ellis Homestead hosts Civil War reinactments during warm weather - check their online calendar for more. June is their strawberry pickings so bring an appetite!
One of the best cave tours in the south. Easy access all the way through with fantastic views. I take this tour every chance I get for 40+ years now.
