Minooka Park Campground

I am assuming this is a new camp area. Lots of work going on around on the wooded area. The facility was very nice. I can only imagine what they have planned for expansion!

Minooka Park Campground has been our favorite place to park for over a decade - UNTIL THIS YEAR ! The campground is part of a county park and has grown over the years adding amenities and sites but was always a friendly informal clean campground with reasonably well enforced rules which was especially important as it is known for its ATV trails that are open to the public. The prior Park Ranger used to be quite visible and accessible but he retired and we only saw the new ranger once - and from a distance during our 7 week stay!. The park has become quite rowdy! Very young children race through the campground although the ATVs are supposed to be riding only on the trails. Quiet hours rules are completely igored (we had loud parties with huge fires and loud music on both sides of us until 2AM the first night we were there this year. Children and adults constantly walked through our site! In prior years a very friendly semi retired gentleman kept the sites and grounds spotless. But we learned he has passed. This year we had trash on our site, garbage in the fire pit, and I never saw anyone clean any part of the grounds. And the online reservation system is impossible if you need to actually talk to someone! fall season of 2025 found the park and campground under new management who couldn't even tell you what campsites were available or when. They had outsourced to a company that had online reservations. There was nobody for customers to actually talk to.

Minooka Park and Campground is a really clean and affordable. The trails are fun and they are currently adding 500 more acres for riding. They offer SxS, 4 wheelers and Dirt bike trails. They have single track for Dirt bikes that are fun and challenging. Highly recommend Minnoka for camping and trail riding.

There's a catch and release small lake with a walking trail around it, ATV and dirt bike trails, a fire pit area in among the Games area, and a shed to house the different play equipment (balls, paddles, shuffle board sticks, etc). Pickle ball or volleyball (you can adjust the net height), basketball, shuffle board, ping pong, and corn hole.

Wonderful little park. We stayed here for a few months. Staff are easy to reach and laid back. Prices are ideal for what you get. Many patrons are long-term residents. During the winter, it's just the long-term folks but during spring and summer the park will be filled on weekends with ATV users. My complaints are limited but are as follows: 1) Patrons are allowed to fly politically divisive flags. These are also the folks you'll see photographing your site. Exercise caution. 2) The weekend patrons during the summer are quite gross and will abuse the bath houses. 3) Mail doesn't run here. The Jemison USPS will be your closest option.
