Apparently this place used to be free before Covid. Then they got funding and changed everything without improving anything. I booked a reservation back in February knowing next to nothing about this spot except it’s for kite boarders/wing foilers. I read the website FAQ’s and tried calling a few times (no answer). Website has no mention of lack of water, just says to bring a tent and cooking gear. Any other site with this much info would have stated no water. So I show up to a $40/night campground to discover there’s no running water anywhere, and the sites are all crammed next to each other. There is a really nice entrance building for the check in, though! To do water sports and pay to camp and not be able to wash off (the lake is saltwater, too) was frustrating enough that we left the next day. If we had an RV, it would be okay, but it’s also a cold and humid spot (it’s Vancouver island), so it’s not like you can sit around in a bathing suit to dry off in the sun. You are damp and want to layer up. I will not return here. I would have had a better time remote camping and having privacy to at least wash myself with a jug of water.

Beautiful lake and campground. Lots of space and privacy. Some campsites are really close to the lake. The only negative is the road from LC to the campsite area is quite bad. Another issue was that when we arrived, our campsite was taken. We compared our online reservation info and concluded that the booking system had double-booked. It wasn’t a big issue, as there were plenty of other available sites.

Stayed at the cabins over the Labour Day long weekend. It was a bit expensive, but I definitely enjoyed my stay. We stayed there as a place to park our stuff and then go off roading and exploring the area, so to come back and have the ability to have a shower, and make a good meal definitely helped. There was heat, and ventilation, which all seemed to be controlled by a decent centralized system. They provided a few towels and Shampoo and conditioner in separate containers. There is a propane fire pit & BBQ for your use at no extra charge. Fridge, Utensils, induction element and two pots, an electric skillet, and a Keurig with some decent selections of coffee. They had some pet friendly, and non-pet friendly cabins, we stayed with our corgi, and he had a great time. These must have been opened quite recently, as everything seem so new, but having said that, there are a few small nitpicky things I could add could be addressed over the slow season if there's one. There were a few deck screws kicking around, as if they were just forgotten. There was a finishing nail that had pierced the wood behind it, and the head slightly sticking out - just enough, that should you have grabbed at the right place, it would have poked you. The one piece of finishing wood looks like it was nailed from the top down, so the middle of the wood had a decent bow in it (not that this effected our stay, but noted), as well no mirror in the bathroom, and our propane fire pit - the igniter wasn't working, so luckily we had a lighter to use to turn the pit on for the two nights we stayed. All in all, I would come back here again if I was in the area.

its a kite surfers paradise for a reason - WINDY!! but its beautiful! The beach is nice, really fun to watch the kite/wind surfers. The campsites themselves were spacious and laid out great - neighbours can be close but there's enough space to keep some privacy. Loved our stay!

It's 40 kms in on a logging road. It's ok. Campsites free, pit toilets, water, alot to explore that way. Worth a visit at least
