Great out of the way county campground. Water and electric hookups. There is a dump station on the way out of the park. If you are traveling by RV it is a great place for $20 a night. It is first come first serve here and there are 14 sights with 8 being pull though. There is a mile long gravel road to get in but it is big rig accessable. There are bathrooms and a mile long concrete walking/bike path through the prairie.
Great find! Perfect spot for our quick overnight on the way home. Well maintained campground/park. VERY clean bathroom. Has picnic tables and fire rings. No grill on firering just FYI.
The campground has water and electric sites for $20/night. There is a dump station on site. There are 2 playgrounds and a one mile path walking/bike path. The road leading in is very dusty gravel. Luckily in late Oct it isn't very crowded, only 1 other RV there, because the website really doesn't give much information regarding first come first served or reservations required. Calling on a weekend or after hours doesn't yield anything. When you arrive, the information kiosk in the CG says 2 sites are FCFS and the rest have to be reserved through the County Clerk's Office. However, they don't tell you which sites those are. During the summer this could be an issue. They also don't tell you who to make the check payable to, so good luck with that. One thing not noted is that the state mental hosiptal is on the other side of the ridge. Ooooh, watch out for Michael Myers!! :) Occasionally you could hear a loud speaker from the facility.
We are locals who had never been here. Nice, quiet place to let our dog run free. Walking path is roughly a mile. We wandered around a bit. Not too exciting, but nice flat cement path. There is a boat ramp to the river on the west side. Two playgrounds, sand volleyball and a basketball goal.
What an amazing find! We were coming through the area and needed a place to camp for the night, we called ahead but they did not do reservations, it was first come first serve , when we pulled in much to our surprise there was only 1 other camper in the entire place ! There are 12 sites that have Electric and water , you will need a 30 Amp plug to connect , there are bathrooms that flush but could use a freshening up with some paint , but they did smell clean . Also there is a dump. To pay your dues there is a box with envelopes in the front of all the RV sites
