Poncha Springs Visitor Center
About
I arrived at the RV dump station and noticed that the credit card machine was not working. So, we called the city number that was listed and a worker came out to help. He was able to reset the machine and it started working again. The worker mentioned that if the machine didn't reset (due to a third-party issue), he would have opened it for us manually. I want to express my gratitude to the City of Poncha Springs for their exceptional customer service. At the dump station, there is both potable and non-potable rinse water available. However, there is a requested donation of $5.00, which is in addition to the payment you make at the dump station itself. The RV dump station is located at the intersection of Hwy. 50 and Hwy. 285.

I can’t say enough good things about the Poncha Springs Crossroads Welcome Center. I had one of those days where I accidentally locked my keys inside my car, and I was stuck in the parking lot not knowing what to do. The amazing staff here noticed and stepped in right away to help me out. They were so kind, patient, and reassuring, and to my surprise, they even unlocked my car for free. It’s rare these days to find people who genuinely care and go out of their way to help someone in need, but that’s exactly what I experienced here. Beyond the beautiful views and the welcoming facility itself, the people who work here make this place truly special. If you’re ever driving through or stopping in Salida/Poncha Springs, this is more than just a welcome center—it’s a spot filled with real community spirit and kindness. I will always remember how they helped me, and I’m so grateful.
A buddy and I spent the night of June 24th here before heading up to the higher elevations the next day. It is a great spot to spend the night, potable water and a pay dump station are available, plenty of places to get something to eat as long is it early evening. Huge downside and the reason for just three stars is that they lock the bathrooms up early in the evening and don't unlock them until around 8ish in the morning.
Cute little welcome center with lots of information. We liked the Veteran' Memorial display, it was a very nice touch. The little bird path was also fun.
Great, clean, everything-works dump station for $10 with credit card reader, I think no cash is accepted, self-serve. Free potable water at the building just feet in front of dump station. No one else there but us, easy in, easy out, right off 50/285. Thank you so much, Poncha Springs!
