Great spot right off the highway amongst the birds and some highway noise. Perfect for a quick pull over and rest while traveling
This is a nice little lake off the highway. The fishing is great. You can catch rainbows trout, pan fish and bass. There is three sections for camping . The first road takes you out toward the freeway where there are 3 site you can bring a small trailer down if you like. The middle road with the boat ramp has 3 campsite with roof for larger trailer. The last road takes you down a narrow steep road with two site I would only advise a vehicle go down this road. The camp site are not so great on this side. Only down side to this lake is the freeway being so close. The camping is free so that’s a plus. There is no restroom fyi, its primitive pack it in pack it out.
I was very blessed to find Camel Hump Campground. It was the perfect place for us to rest. When I arrived I was stunned over the beautiful scenery. I drove around and found a spot fairly close to the interstate but that didn’t bother me. The spot was cozy and at an incline so I don’t recommend big rigs. Fortunately I was small enough to fit in a spot and I used blocks to help level my rv. Most of the spots in the campground have a fire pit for those s’mores lovers out there. I couldn’t get more pictures of this place because the hills were too steep for me to walk. I can imagine the other spots were as beautiful as where I parked. I was able to meet a kind gentleman by the name of Dan. He was walking his dog at the top of the hill so we met half way and chatted for a bit until I remembered I had a corn dog cooking on the stove. My stay there was pleasant even as the trucks engine braked throughout the night. It was no different than grandpa’s snoring and it was in concert with the crickets and frogs. And yet, I was still at peace.
Exit 10. No facilities, Pack In Pack Out. No overnighting on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. First driveway has no location sign, several sites without tables. 2nd driveway has signage and three sites with tables. There is a boat ramp here also. Nice and quiet, fishing is supposed to be good and great for kayaking
This is an awesome FREE campground right on Camel Hump Lake. There are only a few sites, but we are the only ones here other than a couple of fisherman using the boat ramp near by. The only downfall is highway noise. It is only a few blocks from HWY 94 and you can see and hear cars go by. It's a great place to stop over on our way to Yellowstone.
