The trails and sights are AMAZING!!!! HL BEAUTIFUL PLACE. Everyone should take a vacation here.
My wife and I spent about 2 weeks here in December. Good weather for us, better than central Iowa this time of year. We stayed in Mountain View Campground, lots of deer, and they definitely weren't afraid of anything. Great people on staff and the restroom and shower house were clean. Good hot water in the shower, only thing is I just wished for a little bit more capacity. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of hot water, but if the Park is at capacity there may not be enough if the shower house is busy. My wife and I will definitely stop again if we are ever through this way again.
Beautiful place to say.. gotta look at the details when reserving after the first weekend I learned a lot.. Tent camping you have to park and carry your stuff to your campsite.. so after finding out you gotta carry your stuff for tent camping spots I had to switch to a rv spot because I camp in the back of my truck so once in a rv spot a guy pulled into the spot across from me and he ended up having to leave because of the power hook up once again read the details well the rv sites on the south west side of the lake are all 30amp if your rv is 50 Amp you have to reserve in cottonwood on the north side of the lake the old timers that is the host of cottonwood is a great conversation and keeps the area well maintained in the video is cottonwood the pics are the south east side theres deer everywhere
So beautiful one of the best state parks in Oklahoma!! so worth the drive & hike. its a great spot for mountaineering/ natural rock climbing, seeing animals, driving around, etc!
Nice State park with beaches, a 2 mile bike path, campgrounds, cabins and a lot of history. They flooded an old ghost town to build the lake and dam, which can be seen when the water is low. Now the town they built it for is a ghost town. Cool place and well maintained. Looks nothing like Oklahoma. Cleaned up a bunch of trash from their lake even though their website claims you can’t magnet fish. There’s no laws against it, you just have to turn in historical items. The “Clean Water Act” of 1972- 33 U.S.C. §1251 et seq. allows public citizens to clean waterways voluntarily or hold accountable parties liable in federal court.
