This is a BSA property that has been loved and tended to by the BSA Scouts for over 100 years. It’s been a staple in the scouting experience and BSA has been a great neighbor; preserving and protecting large tracts of land, untouched by development. These areas are truly critical for the filtration of the water supply all of us rely on. And as a bonus, these areas allow wildlife to carry on living in their native habitats. We are lucky enough to live nearby and get to enjoy the healthy benefits of walking, hiking, camping here, either alone or with camaraderie of others. I encourage you to spend an hour or more of your time, any season, to do the same.

They won’t even let you work on certain merit badges at this Scout camp. Run by a stubborn old man, stuck in his ways. Which makes it not fun for the kids or adults. They don’t do much updating on the grounds especially in the restrooms. Also no protection from the public for the scouts. Random people walk right through camp and through sites.

The hidden gem of Connecticut Yankee Council! Quaint and quiet, Wahwahtaysee is the perfect camp for working on scouting skills. Excellent location for working on wilderness survival, cooking, fishing, and other outdoor merit badges. The shelters offer nice views of the pond or Sleeping Giant. Nice area for hammock or tent camping as well as making your own shelter. When I was in scouts, we came to this site once a year. Just visited it today with my nephew to look at alternate sites for his troop to camp and he likes the feel of it. You can backpack through sleeping giant and into the site or just get dropped off at the small entrance.
