Always enjoy visiting Bellplain. This occasion we were lucky to experience a major snow storm. The park was so beautiful in the snow.
Nice park. Well maintained. Trying to navigate around roads a little challenging as there is minimal signage. Stopped to use dump station-it’s not well identified—cost $30 but got a day pass with that so enjoyed park for a bit. @kaleb_and_lucas_adventures
We love camping here. Electric/Water hookup for campers, tent sites, cabins. The trails around the lake are gorgeous. Quiet, pleasant and relaxing experience!
My A1c service dog and I love it here, except the day we were attacked by an off-leash aggressive pitbull back in June and decided to cut our 3-day hike/camping trip short so I could tend to my dog’s wounds at the vet and at home. It is my understanding that the dog and its owners have been banned from Belleplain State Forest. But generally speaking, this state forest is a very peaceful place, lots of acreage to hike. Bathhouses are clean, showers work fine. Park service employees in office are friendly and accommodating. One can rent canoes and row the lake, but we just go for the hike and the necessity of shutting off the noise of everyday societal life.
Bellplain State Forest has been our favorite family camping destination for over a decade. We mainly camp off peak season every spring and fall when the park is less traveled, but we visit for day trips during the summer. Its always beautiful and clean. It has lots of trails, a swimming area during summer months at the lake, multiple playgrounds, paved roads for biking, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. They offer plenty of sites that allow your pets. They offer all types of sites for camping with your tent or RV including rustic camping sites, sites with water and electric, shelter cabins with wood stove heat, and lean-to cabins with propane heat and even some lakeside sites. Camping is available all year round! I always feel safe due to the state police being stationed within 10 minutes of the park. The park is regularly patrolled all throughout the day and evenings. The staff is very involved in making the park fun and they always have activities planned for guests, and are so polite and personable. My kids always loved it, and now my grandchildren do too! I highly recommend spending some time here out in nature 🍄🟫
