There are 3 entrances. Stop at the middle one first as there’s a nice visitor center that’s informative of this area’s history. Restrooms & plenty of free parking at this location but the walk to the beach is longer. If you drive to the entrance near the marina, less picturesque walk, but a shorter walk to the beach and tide pools. If you go at higher tide, you’ll see more green turtles, but less tide pools. There are no fees to enter the park.
Beautiful lava beach setting enjoyed by contemporary and ancient peoples alike. Learn about native Hawaiian life from long ago.
A nice quiet park to spend a few hours at. If you park at the harbor by setting your direction to "Honokohau Beach", you get to see the beach within a 5-min walk. We ended up walking around the entire park, which took 1-1:30 hours.
Highlight of the park is a beautiful beach with turtles, birds and lots of tide pools. The history part of the park is weak - not a whole lot of explanations. Park at the docks for a quicker access rather than at the main parking area.
This national park is free to visit and offers free parking at both the visitor center and at the south entrance by the Honokohau small boat harbor. The visitor center has a bathroom and a water refill station. At the south entrance you can access a beach and can see turtles; the path is very uneven concrete so keep that in mind if you have any mobility restrictions.
