Spent the week Mon-Fri camping here in August. Can’t beat the price and the beach was perfect. Camp sights are not far from the beach and are full hookup. Of course you need to be able to enter the installation in order to use them. The only negative things were beach access is only from 09:00-19:00 (7pm) so forget about taking an early morning stroll or run down the surf and they do not allow pets on the installation. Which sucks when you enjoy camping with your four legged friends.
Remembering the early days of RSP in my career in the military, a great training center building up the next generation of soldiers ready at a moments notice for the state and this great nation. The command leadership is incredibly helpful and bright, able to listen and hear out trainees. Spent many, many weekends here, and above all else, they care for the well-being and development of future soldiers. The MEDCOM is great, honestly some of the best staff the Army has, and I’ve been across the nation and been through all types of processing. A supportive and brilliant staff that is welcoming and caring is always great. The beach location, though I’ve had few visits is always great to visit with the family and get away from the stress of everyday life.
Navy family here, we visit this beach when in the area and in need of escaping Belmar etc. crowds. Clean beach and amenities; outdoor shower, changing rooms etc. Feels semi private especially during weekdays and on-holidays. Populated by the usual range of ages and stages in military and otherwise. Bonus feature, my three young sons love driving slowly by the retired aircrafts on the museum grounds (when it's not super hot we plan to get out and see them up close!).
I'm an Army Retiree and I just spent 4 Days here. It was my first time experiencing the Jersey Shore and I really liked it! Great facilities and the Beach was wonderful. Can't wait to go again. The people running the campground don't do this as a full time job, it's just an additional duty for them so cut them some slack or just go elsewhere.
Just about the only reason that you would be visiting this place is if you're army national guard or a state trooper, which means you have to go here. That being said, the facilities on this base are for the most part, quite nice. This center has seen the creation of many soldiers and troopers, and I am proud to be one of them.
