Easy from I-15 and worlds away from everything. I arrived around 6 pm and there were plenty of open sites to choose from. Nice pit toilets and trash receptacles. Sites have picnic tables, sturdy carport type covers, and fire pits with a grill. Big rig friendly.
I'm hesitating to review this place "honestly" because I want it to stay (mostly) the way it is. It's AWESOME!! We were headed to SLUT for baseball and this place was exactly half way. We pulled in for the night and woke up to a lovely surprise! We immediately said, "We are stopping HERE on our way back!" And, that's exactly what we've done. There are several camp sites, many with great gazebos, fire pits, and tables. Other sites have tables and pits. Each site is VERY ROOMY!! There's a dock and boat launch, too. On-site outhouses/vault bathrooms (disclosure, I haven't been in them). Although I haven't met them, I've been told the camp hosts are very nice! (Update: I have now met the gentleman. He's very friendly and approachable!). You don't often if ever see camp hosts at a Free campground. I truly can not give this place a better review. Other than saying we make it a point to not stay at the same place more than once. THIS is only the second time we've broken that "rule." And, if I had to guess, we will likely break it again!! VERY WELL MAINTAINED NO SERVICES BOONDOCKERS DREAM *referring to my "mostly" comment- There was a very notable LACK of boating etiquette. People spinning kids on tubes DIRECTLY in front of the boat launch. People, why in the heck would you think this is appropriate? You have a very large body of water to use. Why do that at the boat launch? Road speed- People driving vehicles and some pulling $75k surf boats through the camp ground WAY too fast. Obviously, this is not the campground/hosts job to police. This is why I didn't associate it with my review of the campground.
No fee, 14-day limit. Nice open campsites along edge of reservoir. Plenty of room for big rigs. Some sites with picnic pavilions and grills with outdoor fire pits. No trouble parking our 40' fifth wheel. Good stopover after a long drive. Watch where you step, as campground shared by many geese. Pit toilets are well taken care of. No electricity or dump station, hand pumped well water centrally located.
I had fantastic overnight stay here with mind blowing scenic surroundings. I was literally able to do star gazing here. Right off the Freeway/Highway ramp. Fellow campers at campground were respectful to each other in terms of noise/light control at nightly hours. I would definitely recommend for both campers, car or RVing.
Lovely campground, the views are great , the breeze coming off the reservoir keeps bugs to a minimum. Best of all camping is free, and dumping tanks is easy across the way in the RV Park for $10. Even though it is right next to I 15 it is reasonably quiet and highway traffic is hardly heard.
