Campsites were spacious and spread out. The area was beautiful. My only complaint was that the bathroom (at least the ladies bathroom) was filthy. We were there on a Thursday so there wasn’t even the “excuse “ of being extra dirty at the end of a long weekend.
A fair amount of boating opportunity. Tent camped and it was a bit tricky because of rocky ground and wind. Park ranger friendly and helpful. Overall a positive experience.
The staff and landscape is beautiful and the electric campgrounds are useful. The sunrise and small sandstone cliffs are awesome and I recommend taking it slow and exploring. The migrating geese are a ruckus and the Russian olive trees are unfortunate, but all in all, a good place to be
Campground in excellent condition. All electrical and water sources work. Didn't understand why the top and lower shower doesn't stay on longer than it does......especially the top portion! Spider web present but tolerable. There are insect pesticides that can eliminate that. For the most part, well kept. Don't understand why there is no fish in the lake! Can't have the water level that low and maintain fish in the lake. Most fish get out thru dam. Notice that a couple of years ago. At least the roads are in better shape thanks to the Engineers taking over from the wildlife division. The Colorado wildlife division does a poor job of upkeep of the fisheries. Colorado has a poor reputation of keeping fish in lakes. Need assistance from our southern states!
This was my first stop in Colorado during my cross country van trip. I was super excited to be in Colorado again, I had never really been this east in the state before. The reservoir is absolutely beautiful. The spot we had was also super nice and they’re very simple and spacious. Only complaint was we seemed to be near some sort of waste bin that reeked of fish, but other than that it was a cool place!
