It was the perfect place to stop for the night as I was passing through the area. Right next to a road. However it wasn't too busy overnight. Shower was adequate. The facilities could use updating, but was great to have a hot shower. I'm here in early November, so I can't comment about the pool. Campground is very clean.

Easy access to freeway and yet the property is off the freeway a bit for a quite area. Each spot and road is gravel and smooth. The entire power system looks relatively new and has the 110, 30 amp, and 50 amp - no problems and in great condition. Water pressure is great. pulled 42 foot camper with truck into spot and plenty of room. There are no sewer spots but the dump station is concrete with hoses and easy access. Really nice river access in two different types of water, one for swimming and one for rafting or wading in the river. playground for the kids, 4 pickleball courts and 1 tennis court. large pool with plenty of space for a lot of people, small order to go (or sit at the tables outside) restaurant to prepare food items. The people here are great and very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic layover from Hwy 81. We got spot 9 and love how spacious it is. You’re right on the James River overlooking Purgatory mountain. It’s quiet and the dogs loved exploring. Great pricing for what you get. The town Buchanan is just a couple miles down the road and a ton of history in the area. We would -00% stay here again.

It's a little quirky but it has everything you need. The pool was closed for the season when we camped but the bathrooms and showers were open. There are no sewer hook ups but there is a very easy dump station. There's a trail to a lovely creek, which our dogs really enjoyed. There's no campground office. We reserved online at 5:30pm after trying unsuccessfully to make same-night reservations at a few other campgrounds. It's a Christian ministry but that seems to be separate from the camping. Just a few miles off 81, no grocery store in town but a Dollar General is on the right about 1/2 mile before the campground. Perfect for an overnight stay - or two if the pool was open!

It looks like a terrifying scene from a movie at first. It was 90 degrees the day we arrived and no shade in sight. There's beautiful trees around the perimeter of the area. Let's face it, it's a ballfield turned RV park. When I saw the sign that said "ministry"well I was wondering if we were going to have to sit through some service before we could park. But everything was online, no one disturbed us or checked us in. There's not a lot of directions out there. There are signs but a lot of signs say private, so if you are just pulling in you kind of wonder where to go and where the toilet is. Things aren't marked for understanding from across the way. There's a swimming pool for $8, and I ate a hamburger at the snack shack, which was a lot better than eating at Tammy's place. But then again it was really hot and miserable. This place has lots of potential. The lady there was very nice. If you're using the pool, the showers are fine but if you're camping and don't plan on showering in your swimsuit, then there's little privacy issue. Just a cinder block building with two showerheads on one wall. It brought back memories of middle school gym class. I think this place would be great for a summer camp, and it wasn't bad for spending the night passing through.
