Beware: car and tent campers are not welcome. I wish we had known before we arrived. Loved visiting this historical town and had planned to stay at this city park/campsite without realizing it wasn’t an option. Ended up getting a hotel nearby for 4x the cost.
Really disappointed. Stayed here long term but moved away a year ago. Came back Monday and the restrooms are ALWAYS closed due to vandalism. They claim the restrooms are open from 7am to 2pm but they rarely are. I paid $600/month for this slip AND restroom use as our camper is a popup. Really disappointed...that's alot of money for no restrooms or amenities...
Though there are 2 pdfs you can download with important information, neither of them mention where the campgrounds & restrooms are or what the check out time is. Repeated calls were not answered, but I managed to figure it out. The woods campground ( which is the $15 campground) is not the campground on Wood St. The $15 campground is on Hargis & 8th. The showers are behind the dump station, which is also on Hargis. Push button showers ( the shower goes off every 3- 5 minutes - no big deal. You just have to push the button again ) they weren't hot but they were warm enough. Not the best layout but also not the worst. $15 seems a bit high for a city park campground but if you are needing a place with showers or electric it is one of the only places that stays open with those amenities in the winter. Nice level parking areas and plenty of sites. Though I didn't need to stay for more than a night, the weekly and monthly rates seem pretty reasonable.
We are from NY and were doing Rt 66 and on our return trip, we were looking for a place to dump our black water. We googled it and came across this little gem of a park! This was on the 29th of September and there were only a scattered few other souls in residence. Some people require fancy amenities to occupy their time. Not us. Everything we needed was right there, and hardly any distractions! The honor system was charming and the place was neat as a pin. We only wish there was some kind of list somewhere of other places like this , if they even exist, so we could use them exclusively when we travel. Thank you; we will be back.
Grounds well kept, rent rate was good. Added feature just a few hundred feet ( within walking distance) junior college boys baseball field is located. Park area is available for different activities. Early August city/county hold the annual fair and rodeo. For additional events contact the Coffeyville Chamber .
