Sunday 1/04, figured out where to search for a place to stay, called mid-morning and booked a spot. Before doing so, because of a recent negative experience with a so-called RV park in Texas, I checked some of the commentary associated with this location, and virtually all of the comments was glowing about the place along with the manager/owner named Clint. He gives off a very good vibe on the phone as you go through the process to book a spot for one or more nights. The customary email he sends out, contains all the info you need, including which spot you are assigned and the cost after tax. He is upfront about everything. Chances are if you are planning to show up during college football season, good luck in obtaining a spot to park unless you are already a season pass holder, which covers you from mid or late August into early December. He has many repeat customers that do this year in and year out. The the price for a season pass, as I understand it is not cheap, but when you do the math, it is a bargain for those that plan to stay for such an extended period of time. For a single overnight stay after football season, our cost was $51.50 which is very reasonable. Come Monday (today) I look over his promised text message to me in case our spot assignment were to change. He informed me that sometimes takes place, and if it does, then we would go by the location given in the text message and not the original email. That’s how it works. Our spot had to not change. He also indicated in his text that we did not need to stop by the office first as the email by default describes upon arrival, but just go straight to our assigned spot according to the well-drawn map. We found our spot, and as instructed by Clint, we pulled through driving over the grass and onto the gravel (something I would never do without permission ahead of time). I never asked about that, he simply said to just do so. That is his way of being as accommodating to his customers as possible. We arrived about 4 PM, found our spot, parked, and before we had a chance to plug in our 30 amp cable to the box, Clint drove up so he could meet us in person! Once again, he is a VERY pleasant guy to work with. While there are no bathrooms and no showers available here - and he is upfront about that from the beginning - all other services are available. Oh, and if you are here for college football and you don’t have your own vehicle in tow behind your RV, there is a shuttle service available to and from the game! The local railroad track from here is roughly a mile away, which for us is no big deal. All in all this is a place worth returning to in the future for sure. Almost forgot, there’s even a gazebo on the property!
This is our fourth year staying here during football season. We enjoy how convenient the campground is to the stadium and local restaurants. The staff is always very friendly and do a great job of keeping the area clean and safe.
Horrible location and even worse value. The park is in a bad part of town with absolutely no security—wide open for anyone to wander or drive in. Sites are stacked right on top of one another with no trees, no tables, and still no restrooms. Add to that train tracks running all night, loud parties from the surrounding "towny" neighborhoods, and terrible internet connectivity. All of this for the bargain price of $110 a night. Yes, you read that right. The only reason to stay here is if you’re desperate for a spot during a game weekend, and even then, it’s ridiculously overpriced. The ONLY redeeming thing was the manager was nice and flexible with our dates, but even then, we left a day early for somewhere more comfortable. I'd stay away and find literally any other alternative, unfortunately.
This place is awesome for being close to the college and stadium. We often visit Tuscaloosa with our motorhome and always stay at Coaches corner RV, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Clint and his team are always great about getting us in and very accommodating.
