7 families and my family took time off work to do a Wednesday to Wednesday camping trip. We did this because we know that it is the only way to be together at a first come first serve campground so we have done this for years and years. We showed up, we all had our reservations and they informed us we have ASSIGNED spaces, they changed their policy and never said a word to us. All of our spaces were on opposite ends of the campground. Nowhere near each other. That’s the point of bringing eight families together-to be together. My space wouldn’t fit my trailer, so they assigned me a different spot. I got the trailer and set up and the kids settled, and my brother pulls in and says that’s his spot. So we go to the front desk again and they had a note on the door that they would be back in an hour. All of our friends and family are showing up, obviously upset. They showed up and the guy said “stop whining, it’s a beautiful day.” He said I could have my old spot back or I could call for a refund tomorrow because that’s not his job. I took my old spot back and had to cut down a tree and spend an hour with two guys and two shovels fixing the approach angle so I could back my trailer in…. And then 3 hours later I got a site set up again. Obviously we cut our trip short, I didn’t bother getting a refund because I didn’t have the capacity to deal with that level of incompetence. The logistics of 8 families, almost all of which have small babies, trying to coordinate meals and social time while having to walk 1/2 mile every time was a nightmare. The staff being rude was uncalled for. 16 people taking time off work and we didn’t even get an email, that’s insanely unfair. We booked somewhere else for the next trip. I don’t even understand how staff of any establishment could be so rude. I cannot say enough bad things about this place.
Just got back from two weeks of October glamping in 1000 Trails Snowflower. Collette the camp host once again gave us a warm friendly welcome. She can answer all your questions. All of the staff was readily available if needed to answer questions or help. They were busy getting the camp ready for the coming winter. Our experience was lots of fun trail riding, quiet hiking with the dog and not so great fishing. Walking the shower and sitting by the lake was an episode of different experience from the summer when it is much busier in a good way. Lake was beautifully serene with the fall colors reflecting off the water. Picture perfect. Lodge was open with activities to do. Day trip to Truckee and Tahoe was a wonderful experience also. Thank you Collette once again for your hospitality and service.
Jaime, Brian and Colette are absolutely amazing employees! Each of them contributed to enhancing our stay here, and because of them, we will be returning and spreading the word on this Thousand Trails campground! I hope these employees are acknowledged through their employers, as they are definitely an asset to the company.
Our group with small children had an amazing time and loved the RV campgrounds. We collectively stayed in the Redwoods and it was beautiful. Everything was so clean and well maintained. The lake was great for fishing and good hiking trails. Colette and staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful.
Nice campground. RV spots in the trees are well planned and have easy access for backing in. Sites have water and electric. There are 2 dump stations. Campground has a welcome Center and very small general store. Pool and a couple of lodges. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick weekend getaway with easy access for Sacramento and Reno.
