We only drove in for a look see, but what a wonderful SP to enjoy some camping, hiking and nature. Even the deer are welcoming

This is a really my nice park down camping. It's kept up good and we saw the staff, I think maybe volunteers, cleaning each camp site after people checked out. It's right on the water and the have a paved path that winds through each section of the park. Each access to the lake for putting in paddle boards and kayaks. At the end of the park, the very north see section, is a large parking lot and boat ramp. There is a hiking trail up to the top of Steamboat Rock, but read about the hike before taking it. Some sections are very step with fallen rock, making it difficult to walk across. There are also rattlesnakes around the rocks when it's hot outside. Also this is a great fishing lake. There is another great hike just a few miles away up Northrup canyon. The only thing they needs attention are the bathrooms, they are old and in need of remodel or replacement. Most RVers don't use them anyway but tent campers do. Dog friendly as well as long as they are on leash and on control. We saw lots of people with dogs and didn't see any dog poop anywhere, so people are respectful. This has become one of our favorite parks.

Excellent park! We hit it just right - after the summer crowds have left, and during fall colors. I imagine this place is too busy in the summer, but in the fall - spectacular. We didn't bring our kayak - but this would have been a great place for that. We did a bike ride on abandoned roads (lots of sand, so fat tires is a must, unless you stay in the campground areas, where there is a really nice paved trail)

Well maintained park. It resembles more like a privately operated RV park rather than a state park. Very clean bathrooms with some that have private bathroom/shower units. Walking paths connect all loops and provide access to beaches. An Ice cream truck drives around the loops in the evenings providing ice-cream and ice for a reasonable rate. There is a concession stand that sells pizza and candy. If you're up for a moderate to difficult hike, you can climb the monolith about 300 feet above the park providing a 360 degree view around Banks Lake.

Steamboat rock State Park is a amazing campground and park It has plenty of amenities with eas access to the lake, boat and restrooms. Mosquito's and ticks were not a issue for my family of humans and dogs although I have heard of that being a issue here. The men's restroom had a broken urinal and the air dryers were worthless. My only big complaint with the campground is it was being over run by scooters at high speed. Steamboat rock trail was a quick and challenging scenic hike. Proper footwear and water is highly recommended due to hot temps in the summer and unstable ground while ascending steamboat rock.
