Really nice park. The visitor center has exceptional staff. The grounds, campground and bathhouses are very clean with private rooms. Only 4 stars because the camper dump station is too steep for most campers to negotiate without scrapping the undercarriage or bumper. Maybe smooth out the risen and steep slopes.
We went in the summer the only problem was the bugs were bad. There's plenty of trails, swimming, and the playground. The park interpreters were great. So we went the week of Thanksgiving, and with no bugs the trails were better and the interpreters were just as good!
The cabin was excellent I couldn't ask for a better place and it's fully furnished . Clean and just all we could ask for .The trails here are so full of history and so beautiful. I loved the experience of the trails , did a night hike here with a biologist, fun fact did u know that liken moss on trees glows under a black light , amazing.i can't wait to come back here it was worth every penny, love this place .
Amazing campsites, beautiful trails and lakes. Have camped here twice and will be coming back!!! Everything is well maintained and the sites are gorgeous and easy to set up a tent in most/all of them, I recommend Loop A for tent camping, offers lovely individual stables in the horse camp and a nice playground in Loop B, they offer hiker-only trails as well hiker/horse-only, hiker/bike-only, and multi-use across the park! Visitor center sells ice, firewood, water, plates, and many other basic essentials as well as shirts, hoodies, walking sticks, pins, and stuffed animals and bags! So much to do here, I'm absolutely in love with this park!!!
We spent three nights in the state park in one of their cabins. They have recently been renovated and are considered excellent for park cabins. The unit was clean and well appointed. The personnel in the office were very helpful and friendly. The office restrooms were nice and clean. The state park store was well stocked and prices were reasonable. The trails were well marked and very clean. The Discovery Center was a real treat! The historic signage was well done and very useful.
