Cary State Forest Campground was an excellent place to stay and easily one of our favorite Florida campground experiences. The sites are huge and very well spaced, giving you real privacy instead of the usual RV park squeeze. Each site felt thoughtfully set up with fire pits, picnic tables, grills, and plenty of room to spread out. The outdoor access here is a big win. The hiking trails were great and easy to access, and there are seemingly endless forest roads that are perfect for biking. It really feels like you’re tucked into Florida wildlife, quiet and peaceful, instead of camping on top of other people. Despite how secluded it feels, you’ll occasionally hear faint road noise and sometimes a distant train whistle or rumble. It was barely noticeable for us and honestly added a bit of character rather than being a distraction. One thing to note for RVers is that some sites have the water and electric hookups on the “wrong” side if you’re backing in. Not a deal breaker, but definitely something to be aware of when setting up or choosing a site. Overall, this campground strikes a great balance between comfort and true nature. Spacious, peaceful, and well maintained. We’d absolutely stay here again. You can find a video overview on our YT channel - just search Mile Markers and Memories.

A great campground! This is a great place to just relax amongst the trees. There are only 6 sites here. Sites have large concrete pads to park on with picnic tables, grills that are in good condition, and a fire pit behind the campsite. The bathhouse has 2 showers on each side and was clean. There is a huge covered pavilion with a large grill for large parties. Only draw back is some road noise from 301 but it isn’t terrible. They have a great trail to walk and the roads would be good to ride a bike on. The Jacksonville/Baldwin rail trail is not too far away! We will be back.

Don't pass this place up, it's fantastic. We have site 6, and it is as private as any campsite I've ever seen. Concrete pads fits our 35 foot 5th-wheel with no problem. 50 amp and water at the pedestal. Fire pit behind the camper, picnic table, and grill stand. Road is dirt leading in, and we fit with no problems. Being eight off of the 301 leaves you with some road noise, but it's not right on top of you. At $22.5 a night, this place is a steal.

The best thing is the quiet! Aside from a faint train in the distance. Great for CAR camping, there’s warm showers available. Good water pressure. Men and women both have two showers. One handicapped accessible and the other regular smaller. The women’s restroom did need a replenishment of toilet paper but other than that it was great. Outlet outside of the restrooms available by the bike rack. There was grills too. Great area to star gaze if you have the right stuff, night vision/telescope/binoculars. The forest service roads were great, especially while using a two wheel drive Sadan. Saw some wild turkeys flying, lily pads, fluffy trees , vast clearings and dense woods. Everyone is respectful and mind their own. Don’t know the forest guys name but he helped us a lot!

A very nice, very small (RV capacity = 6) campground in a nice sized state forest (This is operated by the Florida State Forest Service, not Florida State Parks. State Parks are generally nice, but you can see the difference). The campground area is maintained extremely well, with plenty of cleared, mowed space around each campsite. Each campsite has at least an acre of trees/shrubs surrounding it, a concrete pad, fire ring, tent area, picnic table and electric/water hookups. There are a few picnic areas close to the bathhouse. With so few campsites on such a large area, this is a very quiet place. Now and then, you can hear a distant train passing by. The bathhouse is in good condition, with a large pavilion next to it. We stayed here during the rainy season and a lot of the area around the campsites is low, so there was a lot of standing water just off the road/sites, and a prevalence of mosquitoes. Equip yourself with repellent and you'll be fine. I enjoyed this campground more than most higher prices RV campgrounds in northern FL/southern GA, where they typically would have ten times the number of campsites in a similar sized property.
