The walk to the trail is flat and easy. Once you get there, there are two areas of difficult clamouring. Anyone with knee problems might want walking poles.
Great place from city Escape .... just an hour of drive Though weather conditions can change quickly.
Nature at its best. Hartz Pass is a brilliant spot of Tasmanian wilderness. Fresh crisp air, winding boardwalks, and breathtaking views over rugged peaks. The walk is challenging enough but incredibly rewarding, without feeling punished. The alpine scenery is a photographer’s dream, especially with a dusting of snow. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop and simply take in all of its magic. (Recommend appropriate hiking footwear)
Hiking Hartz Mountain was an amazing experience! It was my first time seeing real snow, which made it extra special. The trail was foggy, windy, and even a bit rainy, but the adventure was worth every step. Despite the limited views on the way up, the snow-covered path felt magical. It was a little sad that the skies cleared only as we were heading back down—but that just gives me more reason to return. I’ll definitely go back again after winter to see it in a whole new light!
You can enjoy the breathtaking view surrounding the area, although the altitude is not that high. If you are lucky, you may be able to encounter wild animals on your way. The weather changes constantly and rapidly, so you should bring walm clothes to avoid hypothermia.
