Not a bad park. Also not a lot of options for small town. It was a decent short stay. One thing I say is the spaces are very unorganized and a strange layout with most and too close together! Trees need trimmed so your rig don’t hit them. They want to say not responsible for any damages but yet trees hang very low even in the drive. Watch your roof. The front has a low angle for low profile rigs. Have to be careful with that. And I absolutely don’t like the free roaming dogs that are the property owners or at least the people staying in the rear house. Want to tell campers to follow these dog rules yet in fact you don’t even abide by the rules and make the camp ground more safe for everyone. I couldn’t walk my dog the whole time I was here due to 2-3 roaming and coming from the house and all in your face barking aggressively. You never know what a dog will do regardless if it’s friendly.
Stopped in heard they had a little bit of necessities. They don't have much, but what they do have is very much needed. Said they're bringing in more inventory soon . The lady working was very friendly and personable. And she had some information about the items for sale.
Just camped at Cherokee Strip Campground for 2 weeks and it was a wonderful experience. The owners are great! They are very happy to help anyone! They are also very animal friendly. There were a lot of campers there with dogs including us. The campground is VERY clean. There were no smells or odors. They offer full hook up for campers, full bathrooms and laundry service. The washers and dryers work very well (unlike at laundry mats). We had a beautiful view from where we were camping of the woods and the trail to the pond. We would walk our dog down to the pond just about every day. My son and I had a great time in Arkansas City and we were sad to go. We will be going back and when we do we will be staying here again. I recommend this campground to everyone!
Russ and Sandy the owners are exceptional people! They have been very accommodating and friendly. The hookups are new with great water pressure and plenty of shade. The dogs mentioned in previous reviews are harmless and over exaggerated. I had a conversation with Russ about the first two reviews because I almost didn't go there because of them, one of the parties tried to take up three campsites after paying for one and the other party was upset over a surprise snowstorm that took a few hours to set up the snowplow equipment. I recommend this RV park to everyone.
We recently sold our home and were living in our RV and have been staying at this park for 3 weeks. The owner (Russell) constantly came by to complain. First it was about how many vehicles we had parked and that it was taking up too many spots (the campground had maybe 8 campers in a total of 50 plus spots) we had three vehicles and three driving family members. Then he nit picked us about our dog (which was never allowed to run free) even though they had several dogs of their own running loose in the park, pooping anywhere, we stepped in it. There were bugs everywhere, flies, nats, a scourge of caterpillars and the dumpsters were in such close proximity to the campgrounds it smelled of dead and rotting things. We had to move our camper because of a breaker box that our camper was plugged into was buzzing and getting hot. He didn't seem to care and blamed us for being in the way of the access panel so he didn't get around to fixing it. Overall it just seemed that he took to not liking us even though we paid $150 per week to camp and the things he found wrong that we were "doing" others in the campground were doing the same thing. We definitely were made to feel unwelcome, which was very stressful not having a place to move to. We eventually found Lou Anns Campgrounds.
