Camped in Beaver Loop Site 5, FF, Rustic. 1st weekend in June. Huge site. Shaded. Level. Private. Super far from neighbors to barely hear their generator. Enough morning sun to charge our solar a little bit but not enough to keep up. Hosts were helpful. Collected wood on site and bought local as things were quite damp. ALOT of nature & bird song. Didn't use water hand pumps in loop. Didn't hike, boat or fish. Would kayak if we had had ours. Boat launch unusable. 30 min from nearest town.
Nice facilities and friendly hosts. We went on a rainy weekend, so there was some mud visible in the low spots and on our trail down to water, but that's to be expected, and it was beautiful none the less.
Beautiful, quiet campground in the National Forest. Sites are spacious. Nice fire ring & picnic table. Love that they have so many that are non-reservable. Our site had a lovely lake view & was perfect to paddle out from. Loss of a star is for the sad beach area- could stand to be cleaned up a bit. Bathrooms are typical for a National Forest campground. Showers cost $1 for 5min. Limited cell service in this area.
This is a great National Forest Campground. They have access to flush toilets, 6 wells where you can get fresh clean water, showers that allow for warm water showers. They have a token dispenser outside the bathroom that is (currently 2024) $1 = 1 token for 5 mins of water. The tokens are accepted in the shower stall. They don't always have soap in the bathrooms so it's recommended you bring your own. You're allowed to pick up any fallen trees or branches to use for firewood. If it is spring time and there is a lot of rain there will be a lot of mosquitoes so be prepared for that. There are also multiple firewood vendors nearby that you can get firewood at (currently $5 per bundle).
We're tent campers and although we were there the weekend after Labor Day the campground was still somewhat full so it was limited for good sites for tents. But site 3 in the Beaver loop was perfect. Nice and large and a grassy spot that was the perfect size for our tent.
