This place is an absolute oasis. Definitely reserve a spot here if you're running the IDBDR.

Stayed the night with a couple buddies to hit the magruder the next day. Owner was very accommodating. conveniently next door to the market. Showers are amazing! The awning area has plenty of places to hang all our motorcycle gear. Would stay here again if passing through.

A must stay for any motorcycle passing through Elk City. If you're riding the Idaho BDR, I highly recommend planning a stay. Clean showers, WiFi, firewood, and beautiful little camp sites with a sheltered picnic table. I roasted my clutch climbing Burnt Knob on Magruder, and limped my poor bike back to Elk City hoping to find a hotel room late on a Saturday night. Everything seemed closed but Rider's Rest had a fantastic self-check-in system that worked perfectly. In the morning, the owner came by and was super friendly and helpful. He went WAY beyond what I expected to help me get back on my way.

This was my pre-determined stopping point on the Idaho BDR and it was a great end to a very fun trip. Josh was a great host and has the best espresso on the Idaho BDR. His facilities were nice and clean and the shower felt pretty darn good after being off grid for days. Everything is within walking distance and the grocery store has everything you need to replenish supplies. You might want to check availability and make reservations because he does book up. So cheers Josh, I enjoyed my stay.

Elk City is off the beaten path. And, it's frequented by people who go WAY off the beaten path! In my case, I arrived in the late afternoon, after riding the 120-or-so miles of the Magruder Corridor from Conner, Montana. Riders Rest - operated by Joshua - was a welcoming sight! There are four private camp spots; mine (#3) was equipped with power and water, and just steps away from well-maintained restrooms and showers. My weather was hot and dry... there are covered picnic tables in each of the spots for shelter and shade, and Joshua maintains a nice little enclosed porch sort of affair, for gathering, relaxing, and/or taking refuge from more serious weather. This was only my second-ever stop in Elk City, the first being 8 years ago and headed over the Magruder in the opposite direction. If I find myself back there in the future, I'd stay at Riders Rest in a heartbeat!
