Cold Springs Campground

I stayed here in a group of 16-18 in the second week of July . I cannot imagine trying to cram 50 people here. There are only a few good, level spots for tents. For 50, you would absolutely have to put tents on the pavement. Noise from the road didn't let up much at night, and it could be difficult to hear people talk in certain areas in the day. Possibly made worse by road work nearby. The two vault toilets (men/women, single toilet each) are old, and look like a cute but old shack. Inside was...ok. Plenty of tissue, which was a rare thing on that trip! Not great for cleanliness or maintenance, but I've used MUCH worse! It's located on one side of the grounds, so it's kind of a long walk in the middle of the night if your tent is on the other side. That said, it was a pretty site. There is potable water and a few tables and firepits. There isn't a large space good for a very large group to gather to relax, but ours of >20 was ok. The table in the center area is fairly large. It could seat 3-4 people on each side I think. The main attraction to this site is proximity to the river. You can hear, when the traffic pauses, the river rushing by across the road. In all, I wouldn't be mad to stay again, but I'd prefer something different.

Beautiful location, its great camping among so many nice trees and there is always shade around camp. This campsite is very very close to the busy and very loud road and a loud roaring river right across it which made me nervous with young children and was quite noisy at night. We have camped in many campsites in this area and this year the bathrooms were not as clean as the swinging bridge campsite nearby has been most years. Toilet paper was often running low and the smell was worse than normal. Some positive things about the campsite is that it is a great middle location between river sections to raft! I however didnt like the the place to pull in the campground was around a bend in the road that makes it difficult to see cars coming quickly. The water pumps in camp are very convenient!
