I’ve been camping here for 15+ years. It’s great!
Opening Day, all the $40 full hookups were fully booked because it's such a nice park. Tent sites and electric hook ups available riverside. $3 dump & water fill for travelers, and a paddleboard rental available. Wildlife Sanctuary adjacent, and over 26 miles of bike trails in the city. Municipal Waterpark across town.
Nice place. Only reason they didn't get a 5 star is because of the poor attitude of the administration. Good thing you hardly have to deal with them.
Cozy, inexpensive, right on the Crow river. 4th of July weekend 2023. The electric hook up sites on the river are very large, large enough for multiple campers (were that allowed). The full hookup sites are only about 100 yards away from the river. Lots of old growth trees that provide shade but some site are a bit sparse. The best sites for shade along the river are 15 - 19. Sites 19 and 18 have the greatest distance between them if you're looking for a large space for a group gathering. The group camping sites have tons of room too. We only saw a couple of tents pitched there on a holiday weekend. There's a rental shack for kayaks that's open Thur - Sun. There's several toilets (flushies) and two unisex showers. The shower/toilet combos were very clean, the toilet by the pavilion less so. There's a paved bike and walking path right along the river. It's part of the Luce Line trail. You can ride bikes or walk right into downtown, just a mile away. The park is just a few hundred yards off one of the main drags in Hutchinson but it still feels secluded. And if you forgot to bring anything there's multiple convenience stores minutes away. There's dumpsters for trash and a dump station. For the sites that are electric only there's only one water fill that we found, by site 15.
Nice campground, not far from the town. There is a basketball and volleyball area to play and a small playground for kids. Crow river runs by campground, so fishing is an option. There is a paddle boat/kayak rental center but it is open on Thursday and Sunday (currently). There is no shower area and the bathroom nearby was not well-maintained. Besides that, they do have an animal sanctuary and a nicely paved trail to walk. They could do a better job cleaning up after the geese so the trails are not all clear.
