Great primitive BLM campground right off of the freeway on a creek/river. $10/night when we stayed on a Friday in Late September, where we had our pick of 6 of the ten sites. No services other than two pit toilets — that means no water or trash — pack it out please and leave it better for the next camper. Other than some noise from the freeway (which is right there) and a nearby gun range (which was worse than the freeway noise), things were quiet. We camped in a truck camper, it got down to about 39° overnight. Morning sun warmed things up quickly and we got the pups out for a walk on the forest road that heads up the hill before continuing south. We’d definitely stay there again if we were driving through, but for all of the reasons above, it’s not a destination (and it’s not intended to be). Thanks, BLM for providing great spots like this to rest safely overnight.
Great little campground right off the freeway. Definitely some road noise but otherwise very picturesque and the creek was awesome! Should be noted that it is not free from May to October. There is a drop box and the fee is $10 per night.
Great spot. We picked this spot so we could explore the surrounding area from our atv.
A lovely place to camp for free when traveling thru Montana. There is a fresh water stream, roomy campsites, and vault toilets. Other campers were friendly and helpful. I loved this campsite.
Had a fun week staying here. Right on the Boulder River. Saw people catch a few keeper size trout. 2 vault toilets, well stocked and clean. Some sites in all sun and a few with half day shade. A little hiway noise but not bothersome. Friendly BLM staff around doing maintenance. Designed camp sites, don't park on the grass. We will be back.
