Very pleasant state park with interesting CCC history. Lots of easy hiking trails with more being developed. A little noisey at times with two local roads bracketing either side of the park but not a problem for us.

Stopped to check out this park on our way home. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy the pool. Overall, nice park. Friendly park rangers. Love the CCC workmanship

The park is tranquil and nice. It has gentle trails to roam, a cool bird blind, good picnic spots and some scenic views. It was disappointing that the lake unit was closed to all visitors. I understand the lake itself is too low for water activities, but why restrict access to the huge trail that circles it? I was looking forward to exploring the interesting landscape of that area on bike, so it felt like a rip-off to be charged the full fee, yet only get access to half or less of what the park has to offer.

Beautiful park. Super friendly and helpful park staff at head quarters. Seen deer, little baby hogs running across the road, armadillos, bunch of little Jack rabbits, owls hooting at night. The Stars are super bright at night at this park. The only downside, which is actually kind of a plus depending on how you look at it, is that the phone service is spotty. Although you can connect to guest wifi by the front head quarters if you really need to get connection and it works just fine.

I was pleasantly surprised by this park. The campsites were very well kept and well shaded. This was the only SP I’ve been to that had a red light outside the bathroom, so there wasn’t a million bugs. Bathrooms were clean with nice showers, no AC but had a huge fan that kept air moving. There were a lot of nice trails for hiking, but the lake was super low. The town of Buffalo Gap is super cute and the cafe was awesome.
