A very nice backcountry campsite. There is sufficient level ground for numerous tents, and if you prefer sleeping in a hammock, there are a couple sets of trees with good spacing. There is a metal fire ring with a built-in grill for open fire cooking.
Great campsite and a perfect stopping point on the PMT. I parked at the country store and hiked the 8 miles in on a beautiful day in September. The campsite is in a fantastic little hollow with a stream nearby for water. Nice foliage to provide shade and good fire pit with logs to sit on (although I couldn’t use it because of the fire ban). Plenty of flat spots for tents, but might not be the best hammock site, since the trees in the cleared area are either too small or too far apart so you’d have to get into the woods a bit. Only a couple miles in from either the Molly Hugger or Fox Den parking lots so if you wanted to just go for an easy night of back country camping it’s very doable. I’ll definitely be back.
Great Campsite, close to water, not a bad hike (2~ish miles) from Fox Den parking lot. Great experience. Thanks Pine Mountain Trial Association!
