Hiked the Forest Exploration Trail today and loved it! Tons of shade from all the gorgeous trees, which made the walk really comfortable and relaxing. The lake views along the trail are just so serene — perfect for stopping and taking a few photos or just soaking in the quiet. Honestly, it’s one of those trails that makes you feel instantly refreshed. It’s an easy-to-moderate hike, so great if you just want a nature escape without committing to something super strenuous. Definitely going to make this a regular spot when I need a little outdoor reset. Highly recommend it for anyone in the area who wants some peace and greenery.
LOVE GOING HERE!!! Great hiking, great canoeing, great camping! Every visit we see something new both flora and fauna. New Year's Day we saw Great Blue Herons roosting and 4 different types of woodpeckers and a Great Horned Owl! We will continue to keep going here forever. Can't wait for the canoeing season to start again!
Fantastic park! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Multiple stores lots of camper sites, anywhere from tent to class A RVs. Well managed trails for hiking, biking, and MTBs (44 miles!). A nice lake to kayak fish in, kayak/canoe rental in the summer, a swimming complex and tons of parking. We will be back.
My daughter’s wedding was nothing short of amazing. Swift Creek Banquet Hall was the perfect venue. My daughter fell in love with the space the moment we walked in to view it. It did not disappoint. Guests all commented on how beautiful it was, a hidden gem most people did not know existed here at Pocahontas State Park. We had a wonderfully blessed day. Rented space for two days to be able to get set up for the wedding the day before. I would definitely recommend this beautiful park to anyone looking for a venue that is fairly priced and beautiful. The ease of booking and the quality of service provided was excellent!
This is our 3rd year going to the Park as a family vacation, all 15-20 people. We had 3 camp sites together & a cabin. We booked the same 3 sites (34,35 & 36). I'd like the buddy sites but they are hard to get. We like these sites because they are nice & level & easier to back your RV in. Our RV's are 24ft & 25ft. The thing we love about this Park is a lot of sites are wooded. And the sites are spaced apart with woods in-between them so you have some privacy between you & your neighbors. The park has 3 swimming pools that are well kept & a boat ramp for canoes & small boats. You can rent canoes, paddle boards & paddle boats. And they have a concession stand with drinks, snacks & ice cream. The park & bath houses are kept clean. And they have separate/ individual shower rooms for more privacy. Each camping loop as a camp host with firewood & ice for sale. And for those that would like more than a tent, they have really large Yurts & 2 types of cabins. The more rustic cabins just have beds with fire pits outside for cooking & no AC, just electric. The larger cabins have full amenities (full kitchen, 2 full bathroom, 3 bedrooms, large open living room/ dinning & kitchen area. And large wrap around deck with views of the lake. It's very private & quite & pets are aloud! Cabins are kept clean too! There is something for everyone!!! We love it! And the staff & Rangers are very friendly & helpful! 💖👨👩👦👦🏕
