I went to Rye Playland to see the fireworks. The fireworks ended about 9:50 PM. From 10:00 PM, I was and still am sitting in the same spot in traffic waiting to get out of Rye Playland parking lot. It is the most insane experience I ever encountered. I called the Rye and Westchester County Police Departments and both of them said there were 10,000 cars in the lot. Every 4th of July there are 10,000 cars full with tax payer in the lot that they charge $15.00 to park in and $30.00 to enter the play land. You would think after dealing with the same amount of cars year after year that Westchester County Police would have a plan in place to move the traffic. This is pure madness. If they can't handle 10,000 cars on the 4th. Of July, how can they be trusted to solve and prevent other public safety problems. This is embarrassing, and that Department deserves a zero when it comes to dealing with traffic on the 4th of July. I will never come here again.
