We stayed 2 nights, Jun 2025 at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The FamCamp is pretty nice, it is around the back side of the flight-line on little Bass Lake. The RV spots aren't exactly on top each other, although not "camping" for sure. Our site was a FHU pull-through and had a concrete patio with a nice picnic table. No grills or firepits. The cement parking pads are not level. Some sites are back-in and are pretty close to each other on the end. There is a dump station and water fill-up if you don't get FHUs. The laundry room was clean and fresh-looking (we did not use it) and the bathrooms were also clean. They must have failed an inspection of some kind because all the ADA showers and sinks were roped off in both men & women's bathrooms. We arrived on Saturday with reservations. The campground office was closed, we tried calling MWR but they were closed, so we drove to our site and pulled in. No paperwork visible to hold the campsite or notify anyone it was reserved, so thank goodness no one was in our site. In talking to long-term campers here, they said the camp host quit around May first and so now there is no one in charge of the FamCamp. You have to call MWR, which are not open on evenings or weekends and they said not very helpful as they don't want the extra work. He said there have already been some issues of people pulling in, staying the night and leaving without paying, and several instances of people arriving with their reservation to find someone else in their spot. We are up-in-the-air about returning, not sure we would until they replace the camp host or get some better coverage. The last thing we need after driving all day is to find someone squatting on our reserved spot. 🤷♀️ .
There is no park for kids to play at in the area. There is a dog park but nothing for kids to play at. When you create and area on the grass for play, you will be told you cannot have anything on the grass. Also be mindful if you have multiple cars because you are only allowed to park one car on the site. Very strict on rules with only a dog park and maybe 2 W&D to use.
Had all hook ups that you need and they were in good shape. Reason for 4 stars, no store open and no person to check in with, it was before 4pm. One washer worked, no signs on the other two so they are your coins. The cabins had only electricity and they are 2 blocks from bathroom and shower. Only one shower for an RV park of over 50 spots
The place is a mess since they have no host anymore on site! People are parking where ever! Some parking and not paying! People parking cars on the grass! Total chaos with no host to keep things running smoothly! And the grounds look horrible due to the new crew must have never mowed in their life! Didn’t even finish the grounds just left it half mowed! Who knows what the bathrooms look like!! A host has to be on site 24/7 to keep a campground running properly!
Located in Dayton, OH. Probably the best military Famcamp we've been to. Quiet (except for reveille at 7:30 a.m. weekdays) and safe. Huge base with all you need here. Nice dog park. Highly recommend if you are active duty or retired military.
