Gateway Torres Strait Resort

Work related trip to the Torres Strait Islands earlier this month. Rooms are self-contained airconditioned clean and comfortable. Food is good. Beer is cold. Set menu with a few choices each night. Staff and business owner are friendly and helpful. Transport to and from Airport and ferry available. Happy to recommend the Gateway Torres Strait Resort.

Following a cancelled QANTAS flight, the Gateway Torres folk more than accommodated. Dinner was good, and breakfast was an easy option with basic fare. The rooms were clean and well presented. Conveniently located to wharf and short walk to convenience store. The accommodation would be unfairly compared to mainland options - so you need to be realistic. Don't expect the Hilton, but the staff are quite hospitable and helpful.

Comfy, good food and a great pool. Very relaxing. The museum was amazing ... a must see on the island. We took the local tour as well and that was most excellent. The hostess Vanessa and the resort staff (didn't catch their names) were absolutely lovely and most helpful and accommodating. Top notch stay.

A very functional place to stay. They pick you up & deliver you to the airport which is very helpful. Good sized and clean rooms. Good evening meals and breakfast. Good AC - much needed in this area. Lovely friendly staff. They have a museum about Torres strait, WWII period, pearl diving , etc.

Although a little dated, you won't get better customer service anywhere else. The team here are lovely, the food is fantastic and access to the museum is an added bonus. Big thanks to Fay and her staff for taking such good care of us during our stay.
