Very dangerous boat dock, Serioius accident just wanting to happen like lt did to me, also Lack Of signs to tell you where things are, Took 20 minutes to find the pond. Never did find the other one.
Spent the weekend and it was lovely. Kids had a great time roasting marshmallows, fishing and exploring. People are friendly and our pup was able to be part of the adventure.only down side were the mosquitoes, they are really really bad this year . We had attempted to hike the trails but had to turn back half mile in because they were swarming us so bad. Bring lots of repellent.
Quiet trail that I attempted. Lots of bees and flies on the trail. Got stung by a bee walking so couldn’t complete it. Looks like a great trail though
Absolutely beautiful campground. We stayed in site 57. Very nice site. All the sites are very nice. We loved hearing the train roll past. Make sure to pack bug spray though, Mosquito are pretty bad. Would definitely stay here again.
We liked this county park. We arrived about dusk, had no problem finding an RV site, and found it pleasant but not fancy. We also did some walking in the park--it is a dispersed, somewhat underdeveloped resource at a beautiful and historic spot on the DesMoines River. It was also fairly convenient to the freeways yet secluded and quiet. We saw a bald eagle with a fish in its claws too :-).
