Mitchell Gardens Holiday Park

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately my stay was quite disappointing. The cabin had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke when I arrived. Wasn't able to air it out properly as the fly screens were ripped, which meant I couldn’t leave the windows open without letting bugs in. Cleanliness was also an issue. There was a dead cockroach stuck in the rangehood, and I found mouldy bread and leftover condiments in one of the cupboards from a previous guest... It’s hard to understand how these things were missed during cleaning? The amenities block wasn't much better. It had a strong unpleasant smell, one of the shower drains was blocked, and the hand dryer was not working. While I understand that facilities at a caravan park may be older or a bit dated, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be properly cleaned and maintained!

Excellent service from Tracey at reception. Other CPs could learn a thing or two from her. Friendly, helpful, timely responses. Efficient and knowledgeable. Yes, the park is on the main road but the upside is its a short walk to shops, cafes, galleries and regional services. The noise is a factor, and recommend sites nearer the TAFE if you have a choice. Close to bike trails and walking tracks..

We recently spent the weekend with friends at this caravan park and would happily recommend it. We got off to a bit of rocky start with incorrect dates booked but this was quickly rectified and we were able to check in and out on our preferred dates. The staff were all friendly and courteous, they had great events and additional activities for the long weekend and the amenities whilst old, were clean and well maintained. We spent a lovely few hours in the pool but also loved the big established trees that helped us keep cool.

Always a pleasurable stay at NRMA Bairnsdale with Managers Pete and Tracey. They are the most informative hosts with many activities for the kids dotted around the park. Music entertainment and food vans over the busy times. Always a smile and a friendly hello. Support staff are great wirh special mention for Cathy, amenities are very clean. The park has a well polished finish to it. Pete is always doing something. Our third stay there and will stay again. Close walk to Bairnsdale CBD for everything you might need. Short drive to popular beach resorts and great bike riding tracks.

Set right on the beautiful banks of the Mitchell River, this park delivers relaxation with a view. We loved the easy access to the river-walk and cycle track, perfect for stretching the legs and soaking up the scenery. Tracey and Peter were wonderfully welcoming hosts, making us feel right at home from the moment we checked in. The facilities tick all the important boxes: swimming pool for a refreshing dip, well-maintained BBQ areas and camp kitchen, a handy laundry, and even jetty access to embrace riverside life. The grounds are magnificently maintained (particularly the fairy lights on the huge tree near reception). The amenities block was impressively clean, and having a bath mat provided was such a thoughtful touch. Although the park sits on a main road, we were pleasantly surprised that traffic noise wasn’t an issue at all. It still felt peaceful and relaxing, especially by the river. All up, a friendly and comfortable stay in a lovely location. We’d happily return for another riverside getaway!
