Nice place, off the highway and quiet. We had Sites 5, 6 & 7 and enjoyed the location as there was no one behind us, just the hill. End of the season (9/28-10/3) so not crowded at all. Amazing star-gazing possible. Laundry room was clean but no soap or coin change available; you have to go to the store. Also, you can only use cold water for some reason. We'd heard that there were a lot of minerals in the water so we didn't hook up. We have a tiny camper with no bath so not an issue. When we used the water directly into the bucket though, we saw that the water was tinted. Lovely people managing the place and we'd go back again.

Great stop over! Sites have full hook-ups available, free showers, $2/load laundry, and propane refilling service. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The sites are similar to what you would get at a KOA as far as spacing goes, but the campground is very quiet. You're more likely to hear the wind and insects than human voices. Fire pits have cast iron cooking. Great integrated. Firewood is $10 a bundle and both firewood and ice can be paid for through online payment services if the office is closed.

Enjoyed our 2 days there very much. Helpful and friendly staff. The park is very well maintained. Highly recommend if you are in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is an easy 20 minute drive away.

Really nice campground with big RV sites that can accommodate big rigs. There was a plenty of space between sites and the campground is surrounded by trees from the National Forest. It is quiet and very well taken care of. As opposed to other review comments, I found the staff to be very nice and helpful. Easy to get to Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore, and Crazy Horse from their location. We had one issue that others have reported as well. The water killed our inlet water filter in 1 day and it had just been replaced 30 days earlier. We switched to using our on board water that was filled at a previous campground for the duration of our stay. I’d give the place 5 stars if no water issue but seems like something they need to address.

I can’t say enough about the beautiful scenery in all directions in this campground, and it just keeps getting better as the sun moves across the sky. Our campsite was quiet and the sites are very long. We had enough room for our 40ft rig and two cars. It looks as if all the sites are just as long in this section. Each site had a fire pit and we had full hookups with 50amps. The grounds were well manicured and a new restroom just opened with a new laundry room to be opened soon. The campground is also pet friendly. The owners were very nice and Cheryl was extremely friendly and helpful. I love history and the fact that Custer had used this area to rest his troops here in the late 1800’s is amazing. I have enjoyed our stay and when we are back in this area we will be back to stay here again at Custer’s Gulch RV park.
