Canadian Tire
About
There is a nice spot on the North side of the repair bays that is very accessible. It is a great spot with lots of room. A donation is requested for using the dump station. It has been reported that on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, an attendant will be available to accept donations and help you dump your tanks. There is also rinse water available, but it is not suitable for drinking. The dump station is located on Highway 97.

The new Canadian Tire is a huge upgrade for the city. The store is bright, modern, and incredibly well organized, making it easy to find everything from automotive and tools to housewares and seasonal items. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to help without hovering, which made the whole experience smooth. Checkout was fast, parking was easy, and the overall layout feels spacious and thoughtfully designed. It’s clear a lot of care went into this location. Easily one of the best retail additions Penticton has had in years—highly recommended.
I strongly believe the Canadian Tire Auto Department is dishonest and routinely overcharges customers while hiding behind a “family-friendly” brand image. In my experience and the experience of multiple people I know, this reputation does not match reality. My elderly mother-in-law was repeatedly charged $2,000 or more per visit for routine maintenance — tire rotations, balancing, oil changes — with “new problems” suddenly appearing every time she brought her vehicle in. She trusted them completely, and I truly believe that trust was exploited. We also brought a nearly new Dodge truck in for inspection while it was still under warranty. They claimed multiple issues that simply did not exist. Another vehicle was charged over $1,400, and within weeks it broke down again with the same problems supposedly fixed. This is not a one-off experience. Nearly every person I know who has used this location has walked away feeling ripped off or misled. A company that markets itself as affordable and family-oriented should not be repeatedly draining customers with questionable repairs and inflated charges. I would strongly caution anyone to go almost anywhere, seek a second opinion before trust them with your car or your wallet. Bro Ken 'N' Down, another unsatisfied customer.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are doing some renovations inside the store, and so far, it looks really good. With the lower aisles, it's easier to find your way around, and you don't need a ladder to reach items on the top shelf.
Their expansion is pretty impressive. I found a couple of items (Cuisinart kettle and a drill powered water pump)at comparable to Amazon prices. But 9 could actually see what it looked like. Shop local, or we'll lose it. Prices are the same, or not much different. Although, I would wait for the item to be on sale.
