The sites are very big here but there is very little in shade as most trees have been removed. We fit our van, 10 man tent, 12x12 shade tent, 11 people around the fire and still had lots of room. Lots of wood was provided and some bathrooms have dish washing stations outside. Definitely a great place to camp.
Beautiful Campsite C34. Backs up to river and neighbor sites further away. Only wish is that there were services for RV and Trailers in the campsites. Fantastic campsite and campground. Very quiet at night and in the morning. At night you can hear the river rushing! Public restrooms are great too. No pit toilets and there are sinks to wash your hands. We would choose to camp here again.
Wabasso requires good parking skills due to the fact that some spots are really hard to put a trailer on it. There was a small space to park between the trees. Leveling it was also hard. Staff was friendly. You can easily hear the Athabasca river from the campsite. Around 9 AM there were caribou close to the campground road.
This is a fantastic campground. We loved the privacy of our site. We stayed here for six days and saw lots of different people come and go and they all seemed friendly. The place clears out during the day as people are visiting sure in the park. There was a lot of wildlife around the campground but nothing problematic while we were in it. Our site could hear rushing water from the river and was a short walk from and incredible view. Also there were ranger programs four of the nights and they were fantastic. Why four stars? There is only electricity on one loop (we knew this, but it still was annoying) it was not super pretty in the campground, even though the hiking trail around it was incredible. Finally, it is about a 25 minute drive away from the main highway. The two other campgrounds are right on it. This added a ton of hours in the car to our trip, but it was very quiet.
The privacy is not bad, the sites are clean and well organized , bathrooms are modern, clean and in good repair. Unlimited firewood per night for $8. The Athabaskan river sounds loud at night when the world is silent. Can hear the trucks on the highway in morning and evening. There are no showers at this campground. I rate this as 3.5 out of 5. Not bad, not perfect. Get a shower and it’s a 4 , make it more private and it’s close to 5 . Has a playground for kids too! Forgot to mention that.
