A beautiful campground near Lake Tahoe with giant trees, full hook ups and nice roomy campsites. I’d definitely recommend reservations, we didn’t have one and weren’t able to stay over the weekend like we wanted to, just a couple of nights during the week. The motorcycle ride around Lake Tahoe was one of my favorite of all time. My son had some snacks in his motorcycle bag, which he found out the hard way was a mistake. An animal tore it up, I’m assuming a small bear. The camp is in a nice rustic area, but it’s a short drive to the Nevada border with a bunch of casinos and large hotels.
Pretty nice location outside of the casino/city vibe. Close to hiking and Emerald bay. They have everything you need to have a great stay.
Stayed at Badgers Den campground. Excellent site for group camping. Close walk to Pope beach. Fantastic ice cream shop short walk away. Bears visit but are only interested in food so be sure you always lock up everything in their brand new bear boxes.
We stayed in the RV park. The sights were roomy enough for our RV, a tent and an extra vehicle. A bear came through our camp, but didn't seem too concerned with us. The location is awesome, just a short drive to the beach or into town. The bathrooms and showers need updating for sure, but the camp overall was pretty clean. People were pretty good about keeping the "quiet hours". We will stay there again for sure.
Camping at this location and site 74 was the best location in the entire area. It was 5 min walk to beach and the bathrooms were only a short walk away. The shower was free where we were and you deff had to wear shower shoes but it was hot water and wasn’t too bad. Got to see bears and they didn’t bother us except for getting a smoothie drink we accidentally left in drink cooler one night. They do know how to open coolers. The raccoons are the ones you have to watch out for and are aggressive. Also I bought a privacy tent with a bathroom and I highly recommend it for those who want privacy and for ladies who don’t want to walk to bathrooms in middle of night to go. Since the bears do walk around at night. The only thing about this site is people twice walked through our campsite from beach thinking it was a shortcut. Instead of turning around they kept going and saying I’m so sorry. So we decided to create a barrier on the path so no one could walk through. That’s the only downside. I feel they need to put a big sign on the actually road as well next to the path. There’s one at the campsite front but that’s not where people come from. Next year we are doing cabins but I definitely recommend camp Richardson for actually camping.
