We have been coming to stay here for a couple years when we come to WV to hunt and we absolutely love staying here. Miss Miller is so kind and helpful and the cabins are great. We look forward to coming back next season!

We stayed here at BlackBear for a two weeks. Access to the Hatfield Bearwallow trailhead can’t be beat. We stayed in our 5th wheel however the cabins looked cozy and rustic. Really set the WV theme. Plenty of trailer parking. Could use a few touch ups in the restrooms however. Overall I would stay here again. Peaceful and dog friendly.

We recently stayed in the bunkhouse cabin at Blackbear Campground LLC, and it was an incredible experience! The cozy little cabin comfortably accommodated our group of 9 people, with a bunk bed still available. We were thrilled that they allowed us to bring along our 3 dogs (including 2 large ones) and even a ferret! The campground had ample space for our 2 trucks with trailers, 4 Jeeps, and a side-by-side. One of the best parts was the proximity to the Bearwallow Trails – you can literally roll out of bed and be on the trails within minutes. The trails themselves were phenomenal and added so much to our adventure. Blackbear Campground LLC also provided plenty of fire pits, picnic tables, and firewood onsite, making our evenings around the campfire perfect. The fully furnished kitchen exceeded our needs and made meal prep a breeze. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and highly recommend Blackbear Campground LLC for anyone looking for a great outdoor experience with all the comforts you could need.

The tent area is right on a stretchy area alongside a (pretty quiet) road. It was pretty leveled with the greens at ankle height. No mud spots. We also took a small cabin with shared bathrooms and showers. The cabin - overpriced at $75/night. Almost zero insulation (it was 30 degrees outside during the night) and with an electric space heater (and 3 people) we managed to get it to about 46 inside if you keep the door shut long enough. There were TONS of weird bugs that smelled pretty bad when you kill them, but we noticed that they just "go to sleep" when turning the lights off so we let them be (really, there were too many to handle). They were all over our things the following morning and I kept finding more when unpacking a few days later. The showers - individual units (2 showers and 2 restrooms, pretty big) but dirty. There's mold from who knows when. Barely if any ventilation in the showers and a floor you'll be scared dropping the soap on. Spiderwebs all over the corners and ceilings and black moldy floor and tiles like it's not even being cleaned. Took about 10 minutes for the hot water the first time (while I'm standing naked trying to figure it out) but I think that morning I was the first one to hit the showers, so maybe the heater had to kick in. The next morning it was better. The outside - every cabin has a fire pit and a grill. There's a pile of firewood that you can grab from at $10 half a wheelbarrow and $20/full one (the money goes to a drop box so you won't wake anyone up). If you camp in an RV or a tent, you can also grab one of the small fire pits and take it to your camp. The good - it's right on the entrance to Bearwallow Hatfield-McCoy trails! Like, right there! And the whole surroundings are pretty nice. Also the owner was very nice. 3 stars. Not more. I'd rather stay somewhere else with a longer drive to the trails if I knew better, or camp on the grass if it wasn't that cold and had my own shower setup.

Great place to stay for what we were looking for. Lisa was friendly and communication from her was quick and informative. Several things made this a good place to stay: 1 Easy access to Bear Wallow trailhead and only a 15 minutes drive down the connector highway to Rock House. 2 Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy space. 3 we wanted the feel of WV camping without the regulations of someplace “fancy”. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back. Thanks Lisa
