I did not stay here. I was visiting a friend that's staying there. It appears to be a very nice park with hiking trails, boat ramps, fishing. They have bathrooms and showers, a market. Some sites are primitive and others have water and electricity.

This is a fantastic State Park featuring incredible bird hiking and walking. A 4 Mile Trail full of birds and other wildlife and a 1/2 mile Trail mostly focusing on birds. In addition to that, this is a great state park for fishing and boating. There's a marina that opens in March and there are 45 campsites where boaters can come and enjoy practicing their art of fishing or just relaxing or kayaking. The marina rents boats and kayaks! The park is very well maintained and bathrooms are impeccable. My favorite activity here was the 4 Mile hike through the woods and often bordering the reservoir, Millwood Lake.

We keep coming back so I guess we like it!! Lots of alligators in the warmer months when they are active. Nice bird watching location. Fishing is good. Quiet campground other than noise from nearby highway. Restroom/shower houses are decent. The park staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful folks you'll find. In the restroom/shower house it would be nice for the heat and air to be on for the appropriate time of year.

Man what a perfect state park . Hidden gem of the south . This place has just about everything to offer.Great campin, (Always be weather aware this is low land so it is prone to flash flooding at times ,it happened while we were here , but did not dampen our time ,but it did others across from us , And at campsite 60 always camp on the little hill next to the water it's the highest and driest point , and a long extension cord if tent campin here .) Well this place is for real call of the wild seen gaters, about walked up on a gater and all its gater and vibrations noises on the wildlife trail, trail held true to its name lol .The fishing was so great I can't complain , bank fishing is really good and plenty of benches around the campgrounds . And still call off the wild gaters there too . So all around a great trip with the hole family and my niece and nephews . So a great time and we will be back and next time I wish to run yo-yos . Beautiful land beautiful country I love it here . Also the kids loved the playground next to our site .

Not a long drive from Texarkana. They have two trails for walking, one that’s 4 miles and one that’s 1 1/2 miles. I saw lots of frogs, a herd of whitetail deer, and three alligators. Lily Cove was the best place to see gators on the Waterfowl Trail. 03/18/2025
