Duke Creek Campgrounds

We had a reservation for the rustic cabin and decided we wanted more room. They were accommodating and let us upgrade to a larger cabin. The cabin was very nice and clean. The campground was well kept and quiet. The sites seemed to be nice size and the mature trees added some much needed shade. I would highly recommend this campground.

Duke Creek Campground has friendly staff, fun activities like tie-dye shirts, and spacious, clean sites and cabins. Unfortunately, several nearby campers smoked weed during our stay, which forced us to take small children and a baby inside and disrupted our enjoyment. Staff were polite and said they do regular drive thru but the issue wasn’t resolved. A great campground overall, but the smoking problem made it less family-friendly.

To be honest, we won’t be returning. We did encounter a couple of extremely friendly staff members. A gentleman who I believe may have been a manager, and an older lady with long hair. Both were genuinely kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, not all of our experiences were as positive. One incident involved a woman near the office who may have worked there (though I’m not sure, as she had two girls with her). A teenager was hanging on the basketball hoop, and instead of addressing him directly in a respectful way, she stood a few feet away talking on the phone about it. When the boy’s mom approached and encouraged her to say something to him directly, she responded with a dismissive and combative attitude, repeatedly cutting the mom off with “nope, nope, nope, Courtney is on the way.” Eventually, another staff member came over and handled the situation much more appropriately and respectfully. On another occasion, my children told me that two teenage girls driving an employee golf cart had been pointing and laughing at them. I later witnessed this myself a girl in the driver’s seat was clearly laughing and pointing at my kids. Once she realized I was watching, she quickly stopped, but the behavior was extremely disappointing and uncalled for as my kids never had a conversation with the teens. The site we were on was also advertised as big enough for our camper but that was hardly the case. It was on a hill and we had to park our camper at the edge of the lot for safety and leveling reasons. While these may not seem like “huge” issues, the way staff members and family of the owners treat and speak to people matters. Unfortunately, these interactions left a bad taste in our mouths, and because of that, we won’t be coming back.

The bathrooms are pretty clean and well maintained. The playground is big and there are activities for kids. The pool is really nice and very well maintained. Overall, we are really enjoying our stay in one of the small cabins. The only downside is the sites feel right on top of each other, especially with everyone parking along the road or partly in other people's sites.

This was everything I was looking for when I booked the cabin for my 4-year-old grandson's birthday! It was awesome that they allowed him to camp in a tent and he loved it. He was a little grumpy when he came in, but he really enjoyed the weekend as well as I. The whole staff was very accommodating. The pool, the laundry room, the restrooms check in/ store were well kept and clean considering the downpour of rain. Three other people think this would be a great place for them to stay too! Kudos to all.. we are both happy campers and will be back!
