Middle Fork River Forest Preserve

Go there when it is dark out. Went here on moon day and it was still spectacular. Free park

What a great experience! Quite, sites are spaced well and secluded in most of the areas, and the sky views are amazing. Well with our trip from Wisconsin. This will be a go to spot to return to.

Very nice maintain, park, with beautiful campground. Park has two main loops, around 2 miles each. Easy, by the river, lot of flowers.

Nice place to get away to. Sites are plenty and spacious. Stay away from 12 though. Sun drenched most of the day. Electric only and has a fresh water filling station. Camping has a fee, but it's a open to the public for fishing, swimming and visiting the river. Ice and wood available for purchase. Also great viewing of the stars.

The campground area is large and beautiful. The trails are nice, and they really do keep night lighting to a minimum to enjoy the night sky. The bathroom facilities need a lot more maintenance. We had an unfortunate situation happen, which made me question the integrity of the people who work there. I would really like to go back with my telescopes, but I don't trust the people who work there. I can not recommend this place based on my first experience going there.
