This is a very basic campground in an open field with not a lot of sites. There is no shade and there are no amenities (including no bathrooms). Sites are pull-through and roughly 50ft long based on the length of my truck and trailer. There are full hookups with 30 and 50 amps on a shared pedestal. The sites also are shared (facing each other) with one picnic table and one fire pit to share. There is free firewood to use during your stay. There is not a website. Reservations are by phone only. Cash or check only, no credit cards.
I'm hesitant to write this review as I'd hate to have to compete with others for spots when we come back again. However, this camp site, the owner, the location, the views; they are all too amazing not to share. Price is beyond fair. The owner is an extremely friendly, welcoming, and social man. The location is central to much of the area. The views of the night sky are unmatched. The site has your water and electric hookups (the owner does provide advance notice that there are no shower/bath houses to make sure you have that capability) This camp site has been marked on my Google Maps as a favorite location. We will absolutely be back next year!
Fhus were good. Size of site roomy and they do have free firewood. The prices are very high. No wifi, no bath house, no amenities what so ever. No shade or trees. Train is noisy on weekdays if that bothers you. When we called in late April for a week reservation in mid July we were quoted $185 by the owner. We were sent an email with a price increase to $250 in May. When we arrived it was $280 and a nightly fee of $45. We are very familiar with the Hayward area and the campground down the road charges the same but has amenities, such as a bathhouse and store. I believe it's on the river as well. The camp host was lovely and very helpful.
I stayed at River Road RV park at their monthly rate while getting my house ready to sell and before we set out on the road out of state. Sue, the lady who helps the owners during the summer, went above and beyond to help me with my dogs (just basically assuring me that they didn’t tear through the door while I was at work), and also met the truck that came to pick up our second vehicle after we left... A total lifesaver! Also, their spaces are huge compared to most, each has a fire pit and access to free firewood. Highly recommend!
We discovered this place and glad we did. Great host. Spacious location. Free woodfire. New hookups. Very affordable.
