I just need to know when they open. says 7 am on Google. nothing posted at the actual lodge. aside from a note on the gas pump that says 8 am. its 7:31 and i am still at the pump waiting for them to open. anyone traveling this way beware the hours. no gas between fort nelson and watson after 7 pm. the lodge here is quite nice tho. the food is good and the location is everything.
This place was the worst. After traveling for 8 hours and passing by motels that were out of service, this was the last stop we made at 11 pm . Thirsty and no wifi connection and nobody answering the door, we asked a guest if we could have the wifi password and some water . He slammed the door in our face and made nasty remarks all while having a pile of beer in his room . We had to sleep in the car , waiting untill the motel opened at 7:00. We were so happy it was finally open . We thought we would finally get rest so we can hit the road as we were so tired it was unsafe to drive in our condition . We tried booking a room but they were having events and were just nasty nasty disgusting people . Wouldn't let us at least use the restroom and told us the wifi was only for guest . These people dont csre if you are in emergency like situations. Mind everyone, if you are coming from the border and crossing through be prepared. There are very many sick and ill minded people all along the highway who dont care if you freeze or die or dehydrated. You will be denied of any basic human rights . People all along the high way are the worst and disgusting. We drove 45 minutes to toad river lodge . I was so grateful for one very nice lady. My parter whos from india heard of Canadians being very kind people . I did not see it at all untill toad river lodge perhaps because she was real Canadian with a real Canadian accent . After over 16 hours of driving from Alaska border we actually camrle across ONE DECENT human being . She let is check in early and she had positive energy and she gave us some great information for us for when we hit the road again. We made sure to buy things from the shop so we contribute to her kindness. She was an angel in the dark for us. I hope people stay at toad river lodge to keep their business us because we need more people like her on this highway
My husband and I stayed here for one night as we traveled up the Alcan to Alaska. It's not badly priced for being so remote, it came out to be about $130 USD for a single queen room. Definetly not a resort! But, if you don't expect the Ritz Carlton and look forward to a rustic lodge, you will enjoy your stay. Very comfortable bed, the sheets and shower and were clean. Oh and the receptionist said the boil water notice was due to high levels of flouride.
I am an RV traveler. It's nice to find an Rv campground off season that welcomes RV travelers. During the off season they don't offer water or a dump station. (Those things are winterized as expected). But electrical is available. The RSv pArking is far enough off the road that it is very quiet. The restaurant service and food is very good and the prices are reasonable.
Fantastic location but the rooms are small, the washroom in our room wasn't very clean (other peoples business in the toilet, hair on the sink and a dirty gross shower curtain), the floor under the beds was disgusting (we dropped a marker and when I went to get it I discovered an old water bottle, a pipe cleaner and a bunch of other peoples food crumbs), no tv, no microwave and no AC. The beds are comfortable though so that's good. The wifi is very unreliable, which makes the lack of other activities on the property especially frustrating; but when you have a monopoly as the only hotel near the hotsprings (the proximity really is excellent) you really only have to exist and people will come. We bypassed the Northern Rockies Lodge at Muncho Lake in favour of this lodge as it was closer to the hot springs but I wish we had stayed there instead. I get really disappointed when I see opportunities for excellence bypassed because money can be made without going the extra mile, and that is what's happened here. The food at the restaurant is decent, our first meal wasn't very good but our dinner meal was quite tasty and the chef is so friendly, you can tell he really wants people to enjoy what he makes, but the hours are limited and that's a difficult pill to swallow when there is nowhere else nearby to purchase snacks or drinks. Entertainment is non existent, a small games room with air hockey or a pool table or even a fooseball table, perhaps a small outdoor play structure for children, just something for people to do other then just relying on the proximity to the hotsprings to be good enough (especially if you're not going to provide basic amenities like television or decent internet), would go a long way. The staff are very friendly and helpful though, i did appreciate that. This place has the ability to be great, a tourist attraction in and of itself, if only the owners would make the investment. Very sad. I will never be back.
