Great camping options, 20$ tent site, or 30$ rv hookup. We may be in the middle of California, but amenities can't be ignored. Access to clean restrooms and showers 24/7 was a game changer. Recommended to download offline maps before making the trip, service is on and off.
Well hidden gem. Beautiful in April.
This is a really beautiful campground, especially in late winter and early spring, when the grass is green and the trees are just starting to leaf out. About half of the sites have 30 and 50 amp electric service and water hookups, and there is a boat launch ramp right next to the campground. Very few of the campsites have any kind of shade tree over them, so if you come here in mid-summer, you really need to be in an RV with air conditioning; it's very hot in the daytime, often 110°F. If you're tent camping, March~April, and October~November, are the best months for that. Most of the campsites have amazing views of Hensley Lake and Hidden Dam. If you want a campsite with electric and water hookups, this campground is very reasonably priced, and it's a good jumping off point for day trips to Yosemite National Park, which is about 75 mi to the north.
I do love this place but suddenly theres a short female ranger with glasses that just seems to have a bad day anytime anyone talks to her and as of today has made me consider my other spots more frequently. If u cant deal with the public then dont get a job doing just that.
Nice little lake way out in the middle of nowhere! We were there in June 2024 and it was super hot, over 100 degrees, but the water was great to swim in. The RV site was clean and provided power for the A/C. The bathrooms were clean, flush toilets, and working showers for free! Not very crowded and the ranger who stopped by was friendly. We'll be back again.
