First and foremost: they accept cash payments, and that is a huge win in my book. Having the option to book online is one thing, being forced to I hate. Moving on... Had me a nice little stay at this campground. I can only camp while working currently, and saw this place was only a 20min drive to my job and right around the corner from a public boat launch onto the Trent River. I was able to work 12hrs, go kayaking after, walk the little trail they are grading along the Goshen creek/swamp, and have a comfortable, cool camper to relax in when I was done. A nice getaway from home. The manager was very nice and communication for payment and booking was pleasant. The other campers were polite, no obnoxious neighbors making noise at night, just the bugs buzzing. They graded out a little beach into an old farm pond for swimming w/ a floating dock and all. The bath house gets an A+. Individual bathrooms??? What!! A little gated area where the pups can stretch out. I stayed under the shade of trees, and looks like they have young trees for the sites up front that currently have more sun exposure. I will not stay at a cement parking lot campground no matter the "amenities," so this was a plus for me. Between the tree coverage, trail through the woods, and songs from the cicadas I felt like I was far away even though it's right next to civilization with only a 20min drive to New Bern.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This nearly new campground has lots to offer. Our level site (#8) was cozy for our Class C and extra vehicle. The bathhouse was a nice surprise to have your own private bathroom/shower/sink combo because not many campgrounds have it set up that way. Fire ring and picnic table were included with the site. We were there for 4th of July weekend and the owners treated all the campers to a very nice firework show on the lake and a small cookout. We definitely plan on returning to stay at Magnolia Lane! Also, its a pretty easy/short trip into New Bern if that was on your list of things to do while staying with this campground.
We were traveling in the area with 3 RVs and this was the perfect overnight stop. We had 3 mostly level FHU pull thru sites. It is a couple miles from the interstate. It is located off a narrow country road with no shoulders. The park is small but well laid out. It is kept neat and there are paddle boats in the small lake, Lake Georgia in the back of the property. There is a mowed path around the lake and a nature trail. The back of the property is close to US 17, but no road noise.
Don't be fooled by small camping area, this place has a lot to offer. There's a big nature trail that ends at the corner of lake. Then there's a wide cut track around Lake Georgia (I am an off-road runner and really enjoyed this, I think it'd be great for an off-road cyclist). I kayaked around the lake and swam in the lake. I love the sound of cicadas, crickets, and bullfrogs. The restrooms are clean, the park is well-maintained, solid washer/dryer, and management is not intrusive at all. My favorite spot for in-town vacationing 👍👍
Magnolia Lane Campground and RV resort is a very special place, not quite 10 miles west of New Bern, NC, on US Hwy 17. It is quiet and the RV pads, with full hookups, are nestled in the trees. The Campground includes Georgia Lake. The is a hiking trail around the lake, a bit more than one mile. The lake is calm and beautiful. There are appropriately groomed hiking trails and a nature trail. The lake and the trails have benches constructed at intervals to rest if desired. A children's playground is clean and safe. There is a dog park. There is a volleyball net, horseshoes, and bean bag toss. There are 3 restrooms with showers, one fully handicapped accessible. The laundry facilities consist of one very large commercial washer and dryer, coin operated. This is not a long term residential park, so there are no piles of belongings anywhere. Clean, calm and quiet are the best words. We recommend this park highly. It does not have wireless internet, but cell phone coverage is pretty good, and usually allows internet access.
