Shabbona is a wonderful former state park. It is a excellent fishing, hiking/ walking park that has been given back to it's proper owners. It still operates as it did as a state park as far as I'm concerned, which is very good. There has been major improvements done to all the washrooms and shower area. They are kept incredibly clean and well stocked I was here in the Fall there is public hunting, so walking in the fall will be limited to certain areas. The areas are well marked so there won't be concerns you're in a hunting area.
Our Family has enjoyed the lake, amenities, and campgrounds for 9 yrs. Definitely our peaceful get away! Thanks to all who work to keep it updated and for relaxing outdoor living. Mike/ Dawn & McEmery Family!
Very nice park with a boat rental place. We took a pontoon out on the lake and walked some of the trails. Lots of birds and wildlife! Outdoor toilets are not the best...not the worst I've ever seen, but honestly just go to the boat lunch if you have "business" to attend to. Other than that nothing bad to say about this park
Nice area with a 6 mile hiking trail you can take around the lake over the dam, through wooded areas and then the campground. Great place for fishing or kayaking/canoeing. Always a pleasant diversion from urban living.
What a quiet peaceful place to spend a day or stay at in the RV Park or a cabin. They have a restaurant here, baitshop, boat rentals, kayak rentals, boat launch, trails to walk, and a country atmosphere. I have been going here since it first opened. Great fishing opportunities. There is a 9.9 HP limit on the lake. I love this place.
